Biography

Farhad Nabipour

Farhad Nabipour born in Esfahan, Iran (Persia) in 1962.

Began with pencil drawing at age 3 and three years later he was painting with oil.

In 1975 He had his first oil painting training in summer school at "Student Art Club" in Esfahan. He was one of the best boy scouts in Esfahan chosen for international jamboree in 1978, which never happened becouse of the 1979 Revolution in Iran.

After that his paintings changed from landscapes to what he calls

"Inner Expression". His inner thoughts, feelings, dreams or nightmares about what was happening in Iran.

After 28 months in the Navy during the Iran - Iraq war he decided to leave his home country.

In 1990, he left Iran to find freedom of expression and to continue his professional career as an artist in New Zealand. "I could not have chosen a better place to live" he says.

In 1992, he began studying at Stott's Correspondent Collage in NZ, gaining a diploma in Graphic Design & Commercial Art.

In 1994, he was commissioned to design an advertisement for the Auckland International Airport.

Always searching for new challenges, Farhad moved to the United States in 1995 residing in Atlanta, Georgia.  There he began researching and exploring the extensive subject of the American landscape.

In 1996, he studied with another Correspondent School, gaining a Diploma in Master Art.  During this time he created more than 200 original oil paintings as well as his "inner Expression" painting collection.

In 2000, he was commissioned by Trinity Gallery in Atlanta, to create two paintings for the largest Hilton Hotel in the United States.

After waiting eight years to obtain his legal status in the United States, he was returned to New Zealand in Jan, 2003.

He continues painting his visions, feelings and emotions.  He wasted no time and started a series of powerful expressive paintings - imaginary landscapes inhabited only by a solitary tree or a chair (sometimes with a small figure of a man), using the rich colors of dark reds, umber and browns.

Walking into a space that contains one of Farhad's paintings, the viewer's response is immediate and intimate. These works are far from representational of a particular landmark, they are markers of emotional places. "SOCA Gallery", 2003

"If only we would take the time to look, we would behold the peace,

truth and love within each

and every one of us as well as amidst the nature that surrounds us."

                                                                                       Farhad

Farhad cites Monet, Cezanne and Rene Magritte and Salvador Dali as most influential.

While his love of painting has made him a full-time artist, Farhad's interests extend to  poetry, writing, graphic art, photography and film making.

Farhad’s latest work represents a poetic allegory of one's loves, reminiscences, choices and crossroads, belongings and solitudes.
