| Biography | |
I was born in Havana, Cuba and migrated to South Florida in 1968. When I was six years old I saw the painting Hay Wain by John Constable and was mesmerized by the painting, I remember sitting for hours staring at the painting as tears rolled down my face and taking how beautiful it was. I knew instantly that I wanted to be an artist and I wanted to create artwork that would cause people to cry as they stared at the painting.
Upon entering high school I express my desire to my art teacher and she discouraged me from pursuing my dream, by stating that I had no talent and would never make it as an artist. Many years went by and I forgot about my dream, until a crisis came into my life and I was left empty. I began searching and asking myself what would make me happy and I remember my childhood dream and began taking art classes at Covenant School of the Arts and Palm Beach Armory. I discovered that I indeed had talent and with encouragement from my art teachers and countless friends I began exhibiting. I have now taken that childhood dream one step further and am teaching children and adults the wonder of art.

| Style Impressionism |
|
| An art movement founded in France in the last third of the 19th century. Impressionist artists sought to break up light into its component colors and render its ephemeral play on various objects. The artist's vision was intensely centered on light and the ways it transforms the visible world. This style of painting is characterized by short brush strokes of bright colors used to recreate visual impressions of the subject and to capture the light, climate and atmosphere of the subject at a specific moment in time. The chosen colors represent light which is broken down into its spectrum components and recombined by the eyes into another color when viewed at a distance (an optical mixture). The term was first used in 1874 by a journalist ridiculing a landscape by Monet called Impression - Sunrise. |
