Title: Collision

IMAGINATION, once explained the planet unlike today (2003). What an experience, it was for Europeans to sail somewhere unknown. Some of these adventurers risked all by selling their home, to embark on unknown adventures. Following bogus maps they had no idea where they were sailing. Unlike today, they could experience the unexpected.

What happened between these two worlds during the first meeting? Some accounts say they danced. Could it be true the people on land could not see the European ships, because they never saw such objects before?

THOSE strange sea creatures you see arose from childhood memories of gazing at medieval maps, which showed exotic lands with strange creatures. Cartographers had to imagine what was there. The artwork Collision is not a celebration of European settlement. Rather it is a pity the Europeans, could not have learned from people who have a deeper understanding of the land. Where was the exchange of ideas, for all to prosper? Rather than improve living, it was just a relocation of Europe. A portion of the artwork represents these views.
