Description

This is an Abstact oil painting. The paint is applied thick and in pure hue right out of the tube. You want to touch it's surface-- it's like frosting on a cake. You want to taste it. There is no black only shades of blue. The canvas is broken into grids. I juxtapose complimentary colors like the burnt yellow with their complimentry dark blues, the scarlet reds with the thalo greens. I want to move you around the canvas-- pull your eye across it's rich surfaces. The grid allows you to hold on. It gives the piece structure. I use sharp accents (color stimulius) like small touches of scarlet red and green to push their effects-- this heightens the depth of the blues.. This is the 5th painting in the Abstract Mary series,"Mary Pushes Genji Off The Bridge." It is a rich tour-de-force of pure colors and their effects on each other.
