Description

Between the period of 1860-1920, 60 prophets arose in New Zealand leading distinctive movements in response to the christian message. The movements were attempts to affirm spirtitual and racial worth, in a time when Maori were dealing with land loss and death from illness. Maori self image was in decline because they realised they were becoming captives in new ways and materialism.
